Christmas Gift Ideas for your Significant Other
By: Ryan Thomas

Some people can be difficult to shop for, trust me, I know. Christmas shopping has long been filled with good intentions mixed in with with utter chaos, especially when you can't think of anything the the person you're shopping for would like. I figure since technology pretty much runs our lives these days it be appropriate to list some possible gift ideas that can't go wrong. Of course I don't guarantee anything. ;-)

Shopping for a significant other can be very frustrating for everyone involved. Most people just end up asking the other person straight-out what they want, which of course removes the enchantment of opening a Christmas gift. Most people like to be surprised on Christmas. Giving gifts can also be considered a test to see just how much you know about the other person. The test is to see if you can get them a meaningful gift which, in turn, shows just how much you care about them. If you have to ask them what they want you have failed the test already.

Here's a list of items that will help you pass the test of Christmas giving. Holiday gifts for your significant other (wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend);

Cell phone: You really can't go wrong with a new cell phone such as the LG Chocolate from Verizon or the Motorola Razr2 from Sprint. If your significant other doesn't have Verizon or Sprint, just check your service's website for phones that work with them.

Laptop: If the person you're shopping for already has a new cell phone then you might try finding a good laptop. Laptops can be quite affordable these days with some under $600. If your looking for a good brand I recommend looking at Toshiba, Sony, or Acer laptops for the best quality. For an added bonus try setting the desktop background with your favorite picture of both of you together before you wrap it up fro Christmas. That way the person will open it and see just how much you really care. ;-)

Laptop Case: If they already have a laptop and a cell phone you might try looking for a really nice laptop case (hint: women love bags!). This is where you have be careful because getting the wrong style case may mean imminent doom for both him and her. Guys tend to like efficient business looking laptop cases, while women care more about the design and style. You best bet is to ask close friends or family members what he or she may like. This isn't cheating, it's just being creative.

Digital Camera: A nice digital camera that's easy to use should be on everyone's Christmas list. Canon makes the best cameras though they can be more expensive than their counterparts. Kodak, unfortunately makes you put their Kodak Easyshare program on your computer which makes it bog down like nothing you've ever seen. I've had a good experience with Fujifilm, so I'm going to recommend them too. When buying a digital camera look for one with at least 6 megapixels and at least a 3x optical zoom.

External Hard Drive: If you've ever had a hard drive crash then you know how important it is to backup important files like pictures and music. If your significant other has accumulated a large amount of impossible to replace files then backing up is essential. Some external hard drives are very easy to use (most you just push a button). Never worry again about remembering to back up those hard to replace files when all you have to do is push a button and leave. Show them how much you care about their memories and heartfelt emails by getting an external hard drive. SimpleTech makes some easy to use drives, but I have always been a sucker for Seagate and their 5 year warranty.

Website: If you're looking for something unique you might try getting them something they can share with the world, their own website. The best hosting company out there is 1 and 1. They can handle everything from domain registration to easy to use website templates that will help you get the site up and running in minutes! Be forewarned that a lot of good domain names are gone by this point, so you'll have be creative in coming up with a good name.

There you have it, a list of good holiday shopping ideas, tech style. I hope I have helped you with your Christmas shopping, or at least gave you some ideas you haven't thought of yet. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and good luck!
